White-tailed Eagle at Rosskeeragh Point, Mullaghmore. This
juvenile male from the Co. Kerry release programme has been in the area
for about three weeks. This young male, named Male Star after
his
wing-tag moved rapidly from Kerry in August, having been released near
Killarney in July.
Ahistory of his movements is on the Golden Eagle Trust website here.
Curlew Sandpiper at Portavaud. The bird is pictured with a
Dunlin
to its left in the lower image for comparison purposes. These
small waders are scarce passage migrants in Sligo, usually travelling
with flocks of Dunlin.
Curlew Sandpiper (Calidris
ferruginea)
videoed
at Portavaud.
Curlew Sandpiper is a scarce passage migrant in the
north-west of Ireland.
The
bird is in the middle of the frame at the start of the clip and can be
distinguished from the other waders (Dunlins) by is larger size, paler
tone, longer & more curved bill and lack of contrast between
breast
and belly.
This
adult female Sparrowhawk was mist-netted, ringed and released, after
she
tried to raid a Swallow roost near Tubbercurry at dusk. Is
that a
guilty look?

Gulls
with consecutive rings seen in Mullaghmore on consecutive days
These two Herring Gulls were ringed as chicks on Inishmurray on the
same day 2nd July 2006 durng a Storm Petrel ringing expedition to the
island organised by the North Down Ringing

left
was ringed by the photographer.......
