Scaup - Lesser or Greater?
Donegal Sightings
Roscommon Sightings
This unidentified (so far!) female Scaup has been seen over the past several weeks on Lough Aneltin and neighbouring Lough Colgagh in Co. Sligo.  The relatively small size and smallish rounded head lead some observers to suggest it is a Lesser Scaup, while others suggest it is a Greater Scaup, and others still advise against attempting identification of solitary female Scaups without very close views, which this bird has not yet allowed.
