16th June 2008:  This Yellowhammer was photographed near Lecarrow today, in the area where Michael Bell recently saw four of these colourful buntings.

Directions:
This site is very close to the main Roscommon-Athlone road -  between this raod and Lough Ree.  Turn east at the pub/coffee shop in Lecarrow, continue past derelict cut-stone mill on right, small school on left.  About 2-3 miles down follow this road around sharply to the right (caution very blind bend) at the gates to Rinndoon Estate.  Continue on this road for a mile or so, until you come to some largish fields of cereals (maize under plastic, barley).  The Yellowhammers have been on the wires along the roadside and on the hedges along the road and between the fields.
