31.10.04 Mullaghmore 1 Greylag Goose Seen at Lake 3 30.10.04 Inishcrone 4 Snow Buntings The birds were seen on a reseeded field about 1 kilometre east of the village. 30.10.04 Dromard 5 Waxwings With only 17 previous sightings in County Sligo, this represents a significant record. The birds were seen in a private garden near Dromard. 29.10.04 Cartron Inner 1 Blacktailed Godwit 28.10.04 IT Sligo 49 Oystercatchers 27.10.04 Mullaghmore 1 Greylag Goose 27.10.04 IT Sligo 2 Redpolls Also several flocks of migrating Redwings have been seen in the last few days. 26.10.04 Lissadell ca. 150 Barnacle Geese The Red-necked Grebe seen previously at Yellow Strand, was seen again in Drumcliff Bay close to the goose field on the 19.10 . 22.10.04 Cartron Inner Bay 1 Common Guillemot 1 Kingfisher 21.10.04 Dunmoran Strand The bird reported as a White-rumped Sandpiper earlier this month has been reidentified as a Curlew Sandpiper. 21.10.04 Lissadell 1 Sparrowhawk 2 Peregrine A very large female Sparrowhawk was seen feeding on a Redshank.
21.10.04 Cartron Inner Bay 1 Goldeneye (female) 1 Kingfisher 21.10.04 IT Sligo 69 Oystercatchers 30 Redwings 2 Fieldfares 20.10.04 Cummeen Strand All four Brent Geese were ringed in Iceland and not, as stated yesterday, partly in Strangford Lough. 20.10.04 IT Sligo 67 Oystercatchers This represents a relatively high count as normally only between 10 to 15 birds are present. 19.10.04 Cummeen Strand The Brent Goose flock now contains four ringed birds, all of which were ringed in either Iceland or Strangford Lough. The Brent Goose mentioned on 13.10 was found to have been ringed in Iceland and this is apparently its first sighting outside of that country. 19.10.04 Mullaghmore 2 Great Northern Divers several Red-throated Divers ca. 26 Whooper Swans 1 Scaup (female/1st winter) One of the Great Northern Divers was still in complete summer plumage. 19.10.04 IT Sligo 1 Redpoll 18.10.04 Lissadell 2 Shoveler 405 Barnacle Geese ca. 400 Chaffinches and Greenfinches The Barnacle Geese have arrived back at Lissadell! As expected, the seed field opposite the main goose field has again attracted large numbers of finches this autumn. 18.10.04 Inner Cartron Bay 2 Blacktailed Godwits 17.10.04 Streamstown 182 Blacktailed Godwits 1 Little Egret The Little Egret is most likely the same bird that was present in August and September. Remarkable numbers of Blacktailed Godwits are still present at this site!

12.10.04 Mullaghmore ca. 70 Whooper Swans 3 Pink-footed Geese 1 Scaup (female/1st winter) 12.10.04 Ballyconnell ca. 200 Eider No sign of the Red-necked Grebe 11.10.04 IT Sligo 1 Redpoll 10.10.04 Ballyconnell 1 Red-necked Grebe The immature bird was seen again with the main Eider flock off Yellow Strand.
08.10.04 Mullaghmore 3 Pink-footed Geese 1 Barnacle Goose 1 Greenland White-fronted Goose 2 Greeylag Geese 27 Whooper Swans This is a remarkable assortement of geese! Most likely migrants from Iceland, they were seen at Lake 1. 07.10.04 Cartron Inner Bay 1 Kingfisher 05.10.04 IT Sligo 100 Brent Geese These geese were observed flying east around 7pm. 02.10.04 Dunmoran Strand 1 Whiterumped Sandpiper No details available, but this is one of only a handful of records of this American wader in County Sligo. 02.10.04 Ballyconnell 1 Rednecked Grebe The bird found in late September is still present at Yellow Strand. 01.10.04 Mullaghmore 2 Pinkfooted Geese These birds, possibly the pair seen earlier this year at Ballyconnell, were present at Lake 1. |
