18 April 2009:
Male Siskins in a garden in Sligo town. One of these birds is
ringed, although only three characters of the 7-character individual
code are legible in these photos - probably not enough to trace its
origin.
14 April 2009:
A Cormorant in the middle of a prolonged struggle to kill and swallow a large
freshwater Eel on the Garravogue River at Rockwood Parade this evening
14 April 2009:
Dipper in flight over the Garravogue River in Sligo town centre, and
(upper) image, living up to it's name - by dipping (or diving) into the
deepest part of the river which is in flood at the moment. It is
carrying food, indicating that it has a brood nearby
10 April 2009:
Male Blackcap at Dooney Rock today. Superb images of a bird that
can be heard quite commonly, once you become familiar with the song,
but not always easily seen - it often sings from cover.
