The subspecies of the Rock Pipit has not been conclusively identified. The bird has a pronounced supercillium, as well  as a dark grey back. These features are usually associated with Rock Pipits of Scandinavian origin.

22nd April 2005:  The spring passage of the continental 'alba' race of the Pied Wagtail, commonly known as White Wagtails, is well under way.  These birds are en route from their wintering grounds in southern Europe/Africa to Iceland.  The more familiar darker race ('yarellii') is only found in the UK and Ireland.

21st April 2005:  The presence of two Tree Sparrows in the beginning of the breeding season is encouraging,  although this species retains a very tenuous foothold in Sligo, with possibly as few as two or three breeding pairs

An very good record for County Sligo. The last known sighting of this species in Sligo was opposite the Goose Field at  Lissadell in the autumn of 2003.

This new Glaucous Gull may, like the four Iceland Gulls seen in March, be a migrant moving back to its Arctic breeding  grounds.
